Hygrocybe mucronella is a little red to waxcap with a bitter taste. However, the taste is not a good feature. Both the hat and stalk are first wet-slimy but gets gradually dry.

Hygrocybe mucronella is a relatively seldom waxcap. Indicator value uncertain. Seems to thrive in rich grasslands.
