Clavulinopsis luteoalba is a relatively common clavaroid
fungus. It usually has
unbranched cylinder-shaped to slightly flattened fruit bodies up to 7 cm
long and 2-3 mm wide. It may have a paler tip, but this is not a good feature.
Macroscopically,
it is similar Calvaria helveola, but is often is more orange in
color. C. luteoalba has ellipsoid smooth spores, up to 8μm,
while the other C. helveola has echinulate spores.
Ecology/Indicatorvalue
C.
luteoalba is relatively common in pastures and has little indicator
value.
Fructification in Norway:
From beginning of August to beginning of November,
mainly in September/October.
