Cuphophyllus colemannianus is a medium sized waxcap with brownish decurrent gills, grey-brown cap and paler stem. According to DNA sequencing, this species seems to contain several species and should therefore be referred to as Cuphophyllus colemannianus (coll).

Up to 50mm. Lubricous to greasy, brown to grey-brown Bell-formed, later applanate.  Often distinctly umbonate. Hygrophane	Deeply decurrent, often strongly intervenose. Paler than cap, but with brown tinge	Up to 50mm Cylinder-shaped or attenuated downward Dry, fibrillose. White, often silky-shining	Brown subspecies of C. virginea. C. pratensis but it is bigger and more orange-brown colors.

Ecology/Indicator-value:

Cuphophyllus colemannianus is a relative seldom fungi and grows in semi-natural grassland together with many other rare grasslandfungi, on so called ”hot spots”. The fungi is a good indicator for old base-rich grasslands and it also often grows in coastal grasslands.

Fruiting periode Norway: From medio of August to medio of  November, mainly in September/October.
