Entoloma poliopus is recognized by the dark, densely scaly cap and the dark blue almost polished stem.

E. poliopus belongs to Section Poliopodes represented by eigth relatively small species and are also difficult to distinguish. Most of the species have brownish pileus contrasting a bluish, glossy stipe. I addition to  E. poliopus we find  E. allospermum, E. mutabilipes, E. calceus, E. pseudocyanulum, E. septentrionale, E. perchalybeum, E. brunneoserrulatum. (Brandrud et. al 2023)

Up to 55 mm, very dark blue with almost blue center. Scaly to fibrillose

Often with decurrent tooth, White, later pink somethimes with brownis gill-edge.

Gill-edge sterile

Spores > 10 µm.

Up to 70x4 mm, dark blue, almost polished.

Ecology/Indicator-value
Considered as a relatively common pinkgill in grasslands, but has few finds in Western Norway. It probably has a limited indicator value.

Fructification in Norway: From medio July to medio October, mainly in September.
