E. ameides is a relatively small greyish thick-fleshed tricholomatoid pinkgill. It has a characteristic smell like chewing gum and should be easely recognized in the field.

 

Characteristics:

Up to 60mm tricholomatoid, conical at first expanding to conico-convex often with broad low umbo Hygrophanous.	Moderately distant, narrowly adnate to almost feree, pale grey becoming pinkish Spores: 8.5-11µm. Lamella edge fertil..	Up to 80 x 8 mm cylindrical or distinctly broadened towars base. light greyish	Normally easy to recognize by habitus and the charac-teristic smell.

 

Ecology/indicatorvalue: E. ameides is not very common in SW-Norway and has only been found a few times during the last ten years. It grows mainly on base-rich soil in grassland, and is probably a good indicator for valuable semi-natural grasslands.
