Entoloma exile is a relatively common pinkgill in grasslands. It has a gray cap with dark center and a gray polished stem. Characteristic is the red color on the basis of the stem. E. exile belongs to Section Asprella which is relatively like species in  Section Poliopodes. The species have brownish translucently striate pilei and glossy  bluish stipe. Six species are found in Norway. These are in addition to E. exile, E. asprellum, E. lividocyanulum, E. violaceovirde, E. timidum og. E. cyaneoliliacinum (Brandrud et. al 2023).

Up to 20mm Light grey, striate with dark center	White, sterile with cheilocystidia.	Up to 60mm Thin, pale grey, polished. Red tinge at basis	E. mutabilipes, but this normally has a bluish stem when young.

 

Ecology/indicator value: Entoloma exile is one of the most common pinkgills in grasslands and is therefore probably not a good indicator of valuable grasslands. Many findings from Western Norway, however, but also found inland in Eastern Norway.   Fructification in Norway: From beginning of August to beginning of October, mainly in August/September
