Alloclavaria purpurea have cylindrical fruit bodies growing in dense clusters. The fruit bodies are purple-grey to grey-pink in color, up to 10 cm long and usually up to 0.5 cm in width.
The spores are ellipsoid and approx. 8 x 4 μm in size.

 

Ecology/Indicator-value

Normally not a grasslandfungi. Grows normally in calcareous spruce forests. In South-Western Norway it is found in mixed forests along paths.

 

Fructification in Norway: From mideio June to medio September, mainly in August.
