Gliophorus psittacinus is a small to medium-sized waxcap with slimy hat and stem. The color may be variable. It is often first yellowish but eventually gets green colors on both stem and hat.

Ecology/Indicator-value:

G. psittacinus is quite common in grasslands, and it seems that it has relatively large tolerance for fertilization. It therefore has no indicator value for valuable grasslands.
In SW-Norway, it is found in mostly every pastures with grassland fungi. It is often the only representative of the genus Hygrocybe together with H. conica in pastures that are moderate to much fertilized.
It is found in all counties and does not appear to have any preferences in terms of geology.

 

Fructification in Norway: From end of June to medio December, mainly in September/October.
