(Camarophyllopsis schulzeri) (Bres) Herink

Camarophyllopsis sculzeri can look like a waxcap due to its slightly thick, spaced gills. The cap is clearly dark brown, often slightly depressed in the center, usually quite flat up to 50mm in diameter. Can become somewhat squamulose with age. Stem slightly tapering towards basis, thin up to 60mm long. Grows often in dense clusters. The spores are inflated, round to wide oval, approx. 4 x 4 µm. The genus Camarophyllopsis belongs actually to the family Calvariacea.
Ecology/Indicatorvalue Often found in calcareous to medium-rich grasslands, but are also found in forests. In SW-Norway it is relatively common on rich grasslands often together with many other rare grasslandfungi.
Fructification in Norway: From beginning of July to beginning of december, mainly in September. |
