Clavuinopsis helveola is a relatively common club fungus in grasslands. Several yellow species exsists that can be difficult to distinguish in fields with exception of C. luteoalba which is usually more orange in color. The fruitbody is narrowly cylindrical, often somewhat compressed. It is up to 7 cm long and about 5mm wide. The spores are ellipsoid and echinuaate with a distinct apiculus.

Ecology/Indicatorvalue

C. helveola is relatively common in grasslands, and has little indicator-value. It is one of the grassland-fungus that can tolerate some fertilizer.
