Ramariopsis kunzei is very variable in size and branching. It grows in dense tufts and can assume quite large sizes, often with a width of up to 20cm. It has clear white colors, but can with age get yellow, especially in the tips. The individual fruit bodies are up to 5 cm long and 1 cm wide.
Spores almost round, approx. 5 x 4 µm.

Ecology/Indicatorvalue

R. kunzei often grows in non-fertilized grasslands, often on calcareous ground, but is also found in deciduous forests. In South-Western Norway, it is mostly found in ancient calcareous grasslands and parks and somewhere under dense vegetation of the fern Pteridium aquilinum. It grows on localities with many seldom and redlisted species and is probably a good indicator of rich areas.

Fructification in Norway: From end of July to end of November, mainly in September.
