Limestone waxcap is a fungus that is very similar to vermilion waxcap, but it grows in calcareous localities and is therefore much rarer. |

Broadly adnate, seldom with decurrent tooth. Spores relatively small 7-9 µ and broadly ellipsoid which is different from Vermilion waxcap |
Thin, up to 50mm, often curved, dry and smooth, with silky sheen. |
Scarlet waxcap but this is bigger with slimy cap and not squamulose.
Garlic waxcap, but this is often more red and fructify earlier.

Økologi/Indikatorverdi: Good indcator for very calcareous grasslands.
Funnperiode i Norge: From beginning of August til medio September, mainly September
i september-oktober.
