Limestone waxcap is a fungus that is very similar to vermilion waxcap, but it grows in calcareous localities and is therefore much rarer.

 

 

Kjennetegn:

Small up to 50mm.

Dry, orange/red with yellow edge.Liten, opp til 50mm

 Orange often with a darker center

FInly squamulose.

 

Broadly adnate, seldom with decurrent tooth.  Spores relatively small 7-9 µ and broadly ellipsoid which is different from Vermilion waxcap

Thin, up to 50mm, often curved, dry and smooth, with silky sheen.

Scarlet waxcap  but this is bigger with slimy cap and not squamulose.

Garlic waxcap, but this is often more red and fructify earlier.
but this is bigger Vermilian waxcap, but it has triangular spores like a pear

 

 

Økologi/Indikatorverdi:  Good indcator for very calcareous grasslands.

 

Funnperiode i Norge: From beginning of August til medio September, mainly September

i september-oktober.
