Hygrocybe glutinipes is a small yellow waxcap.  Both cap and stem are very slimy and tends to stick to your finger when you touch it.

Hygrocybe glutinipes belongs to the subgenus Hygrocybe. This group is characterized by regular trama cells, which means that the cells in the gills have a size of 200-1000 µm or more. This is a good microscopic feature that distinguishes golden waxcap from some other yellow waxcaps. This together with the "slimy" surface is a good hallmark.

Up to 25 mm Yellow/orange slimy Lighter color at the edge and translucently striate Bell-shaped - later applanate.	Broad adnate to short decurrent, yellow-white with lighter edge. Spores ellipsoid almost round.	Thin up to 40mm Straight, long, cylindrical. Very slimy	H. vitellina but it has a gelatinized gill-edge and short tramacells.  Easy to distinguish microscopic from other small yellow waxcaps.

Ecology/Indicatorvalue:

H. glutinipes is not very common in SW- Norway. It is found in calcareous grasslands growing together with other seldom and redlisted grasslandfungi.

Fructification in Norway: From beginning of July to beginning of October, mainly in September.
