(Hygrocybe turunda) (Fr.: Fr.) P. Karst

Hygrocybe turunda is a small yellow-orange waxcap with a characteristic dark squamulose cap and paler decurrent gills.

Characteristics:

Cap	Gills	Stipe	Similar species
Up to 30mm, orange with dark squamules mostly in center. Cap dry, and often flexed margin, soon applanate.	Pale, distant and decurrent	Up to 50mm long, yellow/orange Thin, dry and smooth.	The dark squamules makes it difficult to mix with other species.

Ecology/Indicatorvalue.

Relatively seldom in lowlands, more common in higher altitudes. Grows in grasslands together with many other seldom and redlisted species, and is therefore a good indicator for valuable grasslands.

Fructification in Norway: From begining of July to beginning of October, mainly in August/September.
