(Hygrocybe quieta) (Kühner) Singer

Hygrocybe quieta is a relatively large yellowish waxcap, greasy with dull colors.  It has clear reddish colors on the gills and on top of the stem. Can have a week smell of bugs.

Up to 80mm Yellow to orange-yellow Dry, young specimens can be greasy. Bell-formed later applanate, may have an umbo when old.	Narrow/broad adnate/emarginate. Broad and curved, Orange/red. Short tramacells(150µm).	Up to 90mm long Dry/smooth, yellow often with orange top. Cylindrical, curved on young specimens. On old specimens often compressed, Stem hollow and fragile.	Small specimens of H. ceracea, but it has lubricous cap an clear yellow colors H. reidii, but it smells of honey. H. chlorophana, but it is viscid with clear yellow colors.

Ecology/Indicatorvalue:

H. quieta is relatively rare. It has a high indicatorvalue and often grows together rare grasslandfungi on localities with high value, and seems to prefer calcareous ground. 

Fructification in Norway: From end of July to beginning of October, mainly in October.
