Hygrocybe ceracea is a relatively small waxcap with a lubricous cap and a dry stem. The gills are broadly adnate and sometimes weakly decurrent. |

Up to 30mm. Yellow/orange -lubricouse. Young species bell-shaped, later applanate with depressed centre. |
Broadly adnate to weakly decurrent. Relatively thin, dense, white to pale yellow. Short tramacells (100µm).

Thin up to 50mm . Pale yellow, cylindrical to compressed, curved, dry and smooth, weak silky sheen.

H. insipida, but it has lubricouse stem and more orange. H. chlorophana, but it has narrowly adnate gills, bigger and a more carilaginous stem. H. glutinipes but it has a very slimy stem and cap. |

Ecology/Indicatorvalue: Relatively common, but not among the most common waxcaps., Grows both in rich and poor grasslands and has limited indicator-value. Fructification in Norway: From beginning of July to beginning of December, mainly in September/October. |
